A FRONTEIRA EM SELVA TRÁGICA: OS SONHOS PARA ALÉM DO RIO PARAGUAI
Abstract
Em Selva Trágica (2011), Hernâni Donato narra a partir da fronteira Brasil-Paraguai, onde Ponta Porã, no antigo Mato Grosso unificado, se une a terras paraguaias, e, nesse espaço fronteiriço estetizado na narrativa, se estabelecem relações que vão além de conflitos resultantes de diversidades étnicas e culturais, pois, a fronteira não se apresenta como limite divisório, mas sim como palco da luta por sobrevivência de personagens que são explorados por um cruel sistema de exploração de erva-mate. Este sistema, sob o comando de uma empresa argentina, recrutava trabalhadores da região para trabalhar em regime semiescravo nos ervais pertencentes ao monopólio da empresa Mate Laranjeira. Em Selva Trágica, é marcante a relação dos oprimidos com o sonho de fuga que se projeta além do Rio Paraguai, nesse sentido, este artigo visa explicitar esta representação na narrativa e refletir sobre como ela é perpassada pela troca identitária decorrente do espaço híbrido no qual é representada, com base nos pressupostos teóricos de Stuart Hall (2011) e Homi Bhabha (2010). O “além-rio” representa na narrativa a liberdade da opressão sofrida, mas é no entre-lugar que representa que se constroem as identidades em trânsito.
