Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) represent the leading cause of mortality in Brazil and worldwide, constituting a significant reason for hospitalization in Intensive Care Units (ICU). Due to their high incidence and prevalence in the population, CVDs impact the national economy, necessitating substantial expenditures in public health and resulting in consequences such as decreased productivity, absenteeism, and premature mortality. Objective: To characterize the epidemiological profile of individuals admitted to the ICU for CVD in a private hospital in the municipality of Toledo-PR. Methodology: This is an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, and retrospective study, evaluating 25 medical records of individuals admitted to the ICU for CVD between September 2022 and January 2023. For analysis, a data collection form was used, organizing the data in absolute frequency and percentage. Results: The majority of admissions occurred in men (54%), aged 30 to 49 years (36%), with acute myocardial infarction being the main cause of admission (28%). Of the total, 56% of the admitted patients had multiple comorbidities, with hypertension, previous cardiovascular disease, and diabetes mellitus being the main ones. Conclusion: The majority of CVD cases occurred in the population up to 49 years old, with some comorbidity. This fact strengthens the importance of creating health promotion and prevention policies in Primary Care, aimed at patients with CVD and comorbidities, in order to prevent hospitalization and death.
