Abstract

This text presents aspects of Tato Carboni’s biography. Practicing the art of painting since 1997, the artist initially sought to paint different themes and in the most different techniques. He began his work painting diverse themes, including nature, florals, animals, human scenes and abstracts. He experimented with oil paint, but soon began to express himself with acrylic paint, which was the predominant technique in his art. In addition to these, he used watercolor, tempera, charcoal and graphite pencil. His preferred support is the screen. Until the completion of his doctoral thesis, in 2014, he signed his paintings as XXXXXXXXXXX. It was through his research during his academic training - on the look and passivity in painting present in the theories of the philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty - that he established another relationship with art, thus starting to sign his works with the name Tato Carboni. Our opportunity is, therefore, to show this journey of the teacher-artist and describe his different interfaces with other languages, his participation in exhibitions, publications of poems and the painting project he develops with students. As a theoretical background, we will use Maurice Merleau-Ponty's aesthetic-phenomenological theory.
