Considerações sobre o partido nazista no Brasil

Abstract

This article is based on some considerations about the existence of a Nazi Party in Brazil in the years 1928-1938, as pointed out by Ana Maria Dietrich's thesis, Tropical Nazism? The Nazi Party in Brazil (2007), and by Michel Foucault’s thought, in Archaeology of the Human Sciences and History of Systems of Thought (Sayings and Writings II) (2013), among other references. Under a philosophical-historical approach, the article mentions the emergence of certain contemporary practices of violence often associated with fascism and Nazism, so as to investigate some of the actions carried out by this Party in the country, by questioning how its formation occurred in the Brazilian scenario.  In this sense, this study problematizes perspectives of analysis of fascism and Nazism that are limited to European borders and disregard the strange aspects of what happened in other contexts. It is about understanding and describing certain aspects of what applies in different historical conditions, with a focus on the Brazilian Nazi Party’s objectives. This articles seeks to show, then, how the Party's involvement with the Third Reich occurred, as well as the dimension of Nazi practices in Brazilian states, some of its organization and to which individuals the Party aimed its projects. The objective, in accordance with the differences between Dietrich's ideas and Foucault's thought, is to contribute to the analysis of the dissemination of Nazi convictions in other contexts. Associating Dietrich's reflections with the Foucauldian perspective produces some noise. Dietrich argues about a possible adaptation of Nazi principles to Brazil, whereas Foucault highlights the singularity of historical emergences, and moves away from the apprehension of events as a mere repetition of what happened previously in other conjunctures. Understanding, therefore, how Nazi convictions spread in Brazil makes it possible to understand capture of the past as alive in the questions we pose to our own historical space-time.
