Geography and shool rethinking the city in the classroom: a proposed medhodology

Abstract

At postmodern space, many events have been occurred, modifying spaces and techniques, giving new concerns among studies of the sciences in general. Specifically in geography, the study of cities and their realities gained momentum in this new century, since the majority of the population lives in urban space, which shows several problems. Regarding the scholar geography, we can say the approach of this thematic also takes other forms, seeks to associate the student's living space with the content, because starting from the reality and experiences or even what the learner perceives about space city is what builds the scientific knowledge and content about the subject. In this view, this article discusses about the cities and education, especially concerning the teaching of the place and the city, and proposing a practical methodology for the treatment of this subject in the classroom, by the methodology of mind maps, who uses the experience and perceptions of the students to promote the teaching-learning.
