Abstract

New communication and information technologies has been inserting unprecedented standards of behavior in society today. The spread of the internet has ensured wide access to information that are generated in many different ways, and new technological devices lack a thoughtful look at a mapping assertion of its appropriations. Many current devices of generation, access and exchange information are the result of retrofitting existing technologies, that are redesigned for contemporary universe through multifunctional systems. Google Glass is an example of this readjustment of devices, bringing together within a single utility system several previously dispersed functions. Therefore, this paper analyzes the new forms of appropriation of this technology, through the perspective of new images generation practices, and identify some of the possible effects on contemporary society by reviewing authors as Flusser, Marshall McLuhan and Lucia Santaella, among others.
