THE NATIONAL CURRICULAR PARAMETERS AND THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEBATE

The focus observation of the discussion that the environmental thematic havereceived in the media, in the scientific community and also in the teacher everyday life in the
classroom, after approval of the new guidelines and bases law of national education (n. 9394
federal law), led this article purpose. based on this law, the brazilian education would be guided
by the national curricular parameters - ncp - which proposes, among its transversal subjects, the
"environment" and, in this section, the sustainability as possible way for the confronting of
current environmental debate. the main aim of this paper is to know the ncp and the
environmental debate arrange in this document. It was found that, if the society in which the
school is inside is known, it can be noted that the school expresses a reflection of the discussions
that occurred outside, considering the environmental education history from the decade of 1960
and integration of this theme at school, in a systematic way, with the ncp. It was used as
methodology the theoretical and bibliographical research and the article was organized in three
parts, which were discussed, respectively: what are ncp; the history of environmental debate from
the decade of 1960 and the connection between ncp and environmental debate.
