THE ENGLISH LEXICON IN THE PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE DIDACTIC BOOK

Abstract

This study has the objective of reflecting about the lexical itens and expressions

used in English, in the Portuguese Language didactic book proposal from the eighth grade of the

basic education. It is intended to analyze the loans and, or English foreign words related to the

semantic-pragmatic sense, taking it as linguistic practice represented in the Portuguese Language

didatic book, how these lexical itens and expressions can be used by the teacher in classroom,

even percieving that the language cannot be dissociated from the cultural aspects, under the

transformations influences from a globalized and technological world, which, most of the time,

contribute for the enrichment of the language, even if there are some teachers that say the

transformations are threatening and depriving the characteristics of the national language. It is

expected from this sociolinguistic approach about these phenomena of language uses and not of

the language system, it can contribute for a reflection about the practice of teach-learning process

in classroom.
