Abstract

The objective was to identify, in the literature, evidences about the presence of violence on the childbirth in brazilian maternities. It has been made an integrative review, comprehending the period from 2000 to 2013, from May to July 2013, on the electronic databases MEDLINE and LILACS, with the descriptors: violence, women in labor, and childbirth. 253 publications have been found. Of which formed the final corpus of this study, 07 articles that directed the establishing of the categories: 1: the presence of violence during the childbirth in brazilian maternities; 2- knowledge-power of health professionals; 3- the (in) visibility of violence during the labor and childbirth; 4- passivity and silence of the pregnant while experiencing the violence. It´s considered that the violence is, nowadays, a current problem during the childbirth experience, impacting negatively the mother and baby´s health, which is considered a matter of public health to be inserted on the health agenda.
