Abstract

Abstract

Objective: To analyze posture, static and dynamic balance of individuals with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) through baropodometry through a systematic review. Methods: a search was performed using the following databases SciELO, Google Scholar, PubMed, Bireme, PEDro and Science Direct with the following descriptors Physiotherapy, Barodopometria, Diabetes Mellitus and Baropodometry and diabetes mellitus, as well as word association Diabetes with other words in the last ten years (2005-2015). The search yielded 235 articles of which 88 were selected for reading the full text thus leaving only 7 articles contemplated the methodological criteria. Studies were included that addressed on the DM, who used baropodometry as evaluative parameter of balance, summaries, doctoral and master's thesis, completion of course work were excluded, as were studies involving animals. Results: The population of the studies ranged between 13 and 97 subjects, aged 50 and 70 years of both genders, but females 72.4% (n = 76) was predominant in the studies than for the male 27, 6% (n = 29). It was observed that the anteroposterior oscillation prevailed among these patients, another important finding was the reduction of joint mobility in these individuals. Conclusion: Type 2 DM seemed to be relevant in females and in some incidence studies was highlighted because of poor eating habits generating overweight and sedentary lifestyles, affecting obese people above 40 who may have the effect of Peripheral neuropathy (PN).
