Abstract

Introduction: Since the establishment of the Child and Adolescent Statute, within the scope of the new public policies for hospitalized children, it was adopted the system of pediatric rooming-in care (PRC), in order to facilitate the presence of the mother and /or other significant family member child. So, the question of this study was: how has the PRC been approached in scientific publications in the health area among the years 2000 to 2015? Objective: To identify in the national scientific literature, the nursing productions about the PRC. Methods: This is a review of the literature with analysis of 14 publications. Three thematic axes emerged: Rooming-in care and the hospitalized child; Perception of the family about the hospitalization of the child and; The part of the nursing team in the care of hospitalized child and adolescents. Results /Discussion: In the first axis, it was verified an evolution of the health care of the child moving towards the PRC system. It was approached about the changes in the work process of the health team, which starts to consider the family in the recovery of the child. In the second axis, it was understood the challenges faced by the family when accompanying the child during a hospital stay. Finally, it was understood the part of the nursing team and its contributions to the hospitalized child and his family. Conclusion: The review of the literature, made possible the understanding of the PRC system in recent years, involving the perception of the family about the hospitalization of the child and considering also the part of the nursing team in this process.
