Uma análise da alternativa do dualismo de J. Lackey ao debate reducionista e não-reducionista

Abstract

The classic debate on the problem of testimony focuses on reductionist and non-reductionist approaches. While reductionists argue that testimony cannot be considered an independent epistemic source, non-reductionists argue the opposite. Jennifer Lackey proposes a dualistic approach, which combines elements from both perspectives. The objective is to verify whether its theory escapes the objections of the classical debate, as well as new objections. As a methodology, a review of the fundamental concepts of these three approaches was carried out, grouping the different types of testimonies into four possible epistemic results. As a result, an integrative and complementary approach was proposed to address the remaining objections.
