Abstract

This study sought to analyze whether aspects related to socially responsible behavior influence the readability of sustainability reports in public companies listed on brazilian stock exchange. A descriptive, documentary-type research with a quantitative approach was carried out, using a sample made up of companies that published their sustainability reports, corresponding to 125 in 2018 and 121 in 2019. In particular, this study pointed out that companies that adhere to the SDGs and address the topic in their reports, tend to have higher levels of readability. It is observed that this fact had not yet been mentioned or evidenced in research published in national and international literature. The research provides insights into the implications of socially responsible behavior in sustainability reporting.
