Because of the importance of the topic and the lack of studies that address this issue, we investigated the labeling on protein supplements, energy supplements, supplements for partial meal replacement and creatine supplements for athletes, commercially available in two municipalities of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and its adequacy with current legislation in the period. The survey was conducted in 2012 and 2013 and convenience samples, totaling 89 products. The visual study of the labels was carried out through a check -list forms, photographic recording and manual search. Examined whether the mandatory 287 conformities and useful information, especially the performance of the product, expiry date and batch.  Research on labeling can contribute as a subsidy to improve oversight of supplements marketed to athletes in the country, providing greater certainty to consumers of these products.
