Abstract

Abstract: Universities play a fundamental role in the construction of scientific knowledge. In this context, university extension emerges as an important tool for the exchange of knowledge, serving as a bridge between students and visitors. Extension practices consolidate what academics learn in the classroom, allowing the development of skills such as teamwork and effective communication, as students must present the animals present on site while understanding their biology. Additionally, the importance of knowledge of ichthyofauna for environmental preservation is emphasized, as well as the development of social and environmental responsibility that this work offers to the entire community. The project of the LIEB Museum received around 400 students during the year 2023, most of them from elementary school.
