La figura filosófica de Wilhelm Dilthey es clave en el joven Heidegger para explicar el paso que da de la fenomenología husserliana a la fenomenología existencial, en tanto que esta última presenta los rasgos de una hermenéutica del sentido. Partiendo de la consideración general de que en los planteamientos heideggerianos acerca de la fenomenología y la hermenéutica sean una mera cuestión de metodología, es necesario exponer qué toma el filósofo de Meßkich de las propuestas diltheyanas para labrar el horizonte de la pregunta por el ser al que apunta Sein und Zeit. El presente estudio nace con la pretensión de poner de relieve algunas marcas fundamentales que posibilitan el tránsito heideggeriano del objetivismo procurado por la fenomenología trascendental al historicismo latente en la fenomenología hermenéutica desarrollada en los años veinte del siglo pasado, los años sin publicaciones, los años en que se forja la leyenda.
