SECRETARIAL PROFESSION: AN APPROACH IN THE STRATEGICAL PERFORMANCE

This study aims to better understanding the secretariat’s role in the professional routines, mainly in relation to changes in her/his activities, basically from technical to management matters. Thus, a theoretical and field study was accomplished in the period 2007-2009, with 59 secretaries working in private companies in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul state. To data collection, it was used a questionnaire containing open and closed questions. The data were analyzed qualitatively through content analysis technique. The results show that from the improvement of the professional profile, especially at a graduation level of qualification, the secretariat leaves behind the operational feature and strengthening into the management field. With an active role in the organization, the profession has been expanding its professional field and recognition.
