Abstract

In this article, the objective was to reflect on the implied theoretical approach of English Language tests in the vestibular (years 2005 to 2009) exams of Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE). The analysis procedure was performed, firstly, by recovering the focus given to the English language in this new millenium and the practices in the teaching context of Second/Foreign Language. Then, the Diretrizes Curriculares da Rede Pública de Educação Básica do Paraná (DCE) were related to the teaching of the English Language and to the criteria followed to elaborate foreign language questions in the vestibular exams of UNIOESTE. We conclude that there is a proposal regarding the adequacy of tests to the Curriculum Guidelines for Modern Foreign Language Primary Education of Paraná State and, even considering the number of people involved and the specificities of the vestibular process, the new communicative-critical teaching approach of English Language has been taken into account.
