Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between formal internal communication and motivation of employees in an Institution of Higher Education. It was held, initially, a literature review at an institution of a big size private education, located in Fortaleza, which has a formal system of internal communication and reveals itself as an institution to expand the segment addressed. The field research was conducted concurrently with the human resources manager and a representative sample of employees to verify and to compare the vision of both parties concerning the practices of formal internal communication, developed at the IES, and how these aspects influenced the behavior of employees, especially in regard to motivation. The instrument used to collect data in the two stages was a structured questionnaire. The descriptive analysis indicated that it a relationship exists between the formal internal communication and motivation of the employee; however, it cannot be regarded as the only factor that contributes to this feeling.
