Abstract

The present study analyzed the relationship between participation in exchange programs and academic training of the students of class of 2007 of the Trilingual Executive Secretary Program of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). This is a case study that aimed to discuss the importance of this experience in complementing academic training, as well as the main objectives that these students had when deciding to undergo exchange programs, besides identifying the skills developed during the program which are related to executive secretarial professionals. It was identified the programs undertaken by these students and the positives and negatives points of this international experience, as well as the influence that it had on the employability of these students. Through data analysis, it was found that the exchange program is an extracurricular activity that acts positively on the training of future professionals, since, through this, students develop skills required by today's job market, such as fluency in another language, flexibility, teamwork and knowledge of other cultures.
