Abstract

The new forms directed to the management of the organizational development redefined the role of the  executive secretary and brought greater valuation to the profession, and on September 30, 1985, the profession was regulated in Brazil. The advance of the profession only becomes more evident in the end of XX century, when in 1999, the proposal of the Curricular Directions for Executive Secretary  courses  appears for the first time in the attempt to direct the profession and to guarantee hegemonic  knowledges that allow the professionals  occupy a more evident space in the organizational structure.  Within  this panorama, the article has for objective to identify which are the more relevant  characteristics of these professionals in the vision of the financial institutions, in order to measure how the changes in the profile of the Executive Secretary impacted in these institutions.
