Abstract

This article aims to present in a succinct and objective way how the response to complaints of violence and/or violation of rights against elderly people is organized in the municipality of Francisco Beltrão, southwest region of the State of Paraná, through a view of the Social Assistance policy. Initially, it is intended to bring to the discussion concepts of what violence is and what are the main types practiced against elderly people. Next, it is intended to present an innovative experience of the aforementioned municipality, which more than a decade ago created through municipal law a service similar to a hotline, whose name is Disque Idoso Municipal 165, which is linked to the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance of that municipality. Some data collected directly from the Municipal Elderly Dial 165 service will also be presented, which demonstrate a significant increase in the notifications received. Throughout the article, it will also be presented what the Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance (CREAS) is, which is the body responsible for assistance when the existence of a situation of personal and/or social risk against the elderly is verified. Another body that will be cited is the Public Prosecutor's Office, which has a crucial role in the services.
