Abstract

This article presents partial results of a Master's research conducted in the Graduate Program in Social Work and Social Policy at the State University of Londrina (Universidade Estadual de Londrina – PR). For the purposes of this study, data will be presented regarding the identification, educational background, and work relationships and conditions of the social workers who work in Basic Health Units in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná. The social workers identified as female, with a significant concentration of professionals aged between 35 and 44 years (50%). Eleven professionals identified as white and one as mixed race (parda). There is a predominance of the Catholic religion. All have more than 10 years of professional training, completed their undergraduate education in person, and hold additional academic qualifications beyond their bachelor's degree. The majority have only one employment bond, working exclusively as municipal public servants and fulfilling a thirty-hour workweek. All entered public service through competitive examinations, with 75% under a statutory employment regime and 25% under the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws) regime. The salary range among these professionals is quite varied and is directly related to the legal employment regime and length of service.
