Abstract

This article aims to analyze the academic training of Brazilian Social Work from the perspective of human emancipation. It presents elements on the importance and difference of the educational character in the training of Social Work professionals and its contradictions. Methodologically, in a theoretical essay with bibliographical research, we sought to raise elements on specific and challenging aspects of the formative role focused on conceptions of defense of social justice and human rights, in their intersection with class, race and gender. The analyses are based on critical social theory. The result is a critical essay on the professional training of Social Work.
