The 2030 Agenda to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals - SDG is unfortunately far from being achieved, if we depend only on government interventions, except for social projects, which are so necessary for improving the quality of life of people living in communities in large centers, like the one in Rio de Janeiro. The objective of this work was to analyze the social actions developed for the residents of the Terreirão Community, in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The research carried out was of a qualitative nature. A social project developed by a Non-Governmental Organization – NGO was evaluated. This research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. It was found that the social project developed at the site is of paramount importance, as it even rescues the essence of the local people, valuing their characteristics, their origins, their scope. It is believed that this approach will serve as an example for other NGOs to develop similar work, respecting the specificities of their locations, but always in favor of improving sustainable practices.
Key Words: Sustainable practices 1. communities 2. intersectoral public policies 3.
