Abstract

This study aims to reflect on Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) historical trajectory, contextualizing it from the biography produced by Hayden Herrera (2011) and discussing elements in part of her pictorial literary work, registered in her diary (1995 ). Frida constituted itself and for itself as an icon of Mexican painting and Latin American. And because of the accident she had when was 18 years old, Fridapainted several of her works representing that tragedy, her pain and her suffering. In the recovery period, she searched for Diego Rivera, becauseshe needed a critical review of her work and the influence of Rivera can be seen in style and in the essence of the paintings of Frida in 1928 and 1929. Although it cannot be said that the first  children paintings are great works, they are touching and full of life, because her true themes were personified spirit, her own joys and sorrows. For the reflections in this article, some works of Frida Kahlo will be analyzed, such as: Acidente (1926), Mis padres, mis abuelos y yo (1936), As duas Fridas (1939) and A coluna partida, as well as fragments in El Diariode Frida Kahlo (1995), Haghenbeck (2011) and in Herrera´s work.  (2011).
