Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the perceptions of residents from four neighborhoods in Sinop, Mato Grosso, regarding actions that cause negative environmental impacts. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire consisting of multiple-choice statements and an open-ended question about the main challenges faced by participants concerning the impacts of unsustainable actions. Specific challenges were identified, such as improper resource use and the lack of recycling incentives. The results emphasize the importance of partnerships between authorities, educational institutions, and the community to implement effective Environmental Education programs and promote positive changes towards sustainability. In conclusion, the research highlights that awareness and education are crucial to addressing local environmental issues. The promotion of sustainable practices relies on collaboration across different sectors of society to ensure effective actions are implemented and environmental preservation becomes a priority for all.
