Abstract

The present study is linked to the topic of leadership, talking with the technology startup area. Given the uniqueness of the startups' work environment and their rise, the objective is to identify the theoretical foundations of leadership involved in the success of enterprising environments in the ​​information technology area. Were reviewed the conceptions observed in the recent literature in the specific scope of the leadership in the databases Scopus, SciELO, Google academic and books of the area. In this context, the symbolic influence of leadership has proved to be a valuable tool for interpreting the ways of success of information technology startups.
