Abstract

The present work discusses aspects related to the exergetic efficiency of the city of Recife from data on consumption of automotive fuels, liquefied petroleum gas and electricity. Given a brief introduction about the main aspects of the city in question, the economic profile of the region aimed at the service sector can be observed, which justifies the proportions of input exergy, with gasoline and electricity being the main exergy vectors. After analyzing the destroyed exergy, the exergetic efficiency of the city is 22.58%. From the fuel consumption data it was possible to estimate the carbon dioxide emissions in the city of Recife, which is approximately 1.5MtCO2 per year. It is hoped that the results found in this article will serve as a reference for future work in this area so that it is possible to compare cities in terms of their exergetic efficiency and, thus, foster research that focuses on the thermodynamics of cities.
