Abstract

The theme of this research revolves around the importance of pedagogical practices focused on environmental education, understood as a curricular innovation for childhood protagonism. There is an observed lack of qualified professionals and a curriculum that underpins practical environmental education, as well as the harms of detachment from the environment, especially for children. The general objective is to understand the importance of curricular innovation through environmental education to promote childhood protagonism. The research is qualitative, conducted through bibliographical methodological procedures. The hypothesis confirmed in this research indicates that it is through practical environmental education that childhood performance and protagonism are fostered, allowing children to reintegrate into the natural environment, thus combating the harms of their detachment, characterizing curriculum innovations and even improving the quality of education. Keywords: environmental education, childhood protagonism, curricular innovation.
