PHENOMENON OCCURRED IN 2015 IN THE AMÁLIA AND MARIA OTILIA NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF PONTA GROSSA - PARANÁ

This article aimed to characterize a severe storm that occurred on September 27, 2015 in the municipality of Ponta Grossa PR. It was classified as Gale by Civil Defense and left a trail of destruction in more than 200 homes and at least two people were injured. The research methodology included analysis of synoptic charts, analysis of Disaster Information Forms (FIDE), interviews with people working with the Civil Defense and the Fire Department. With the information in hand, it was possible to define the type of storm, characterize the damage, trace the path of destruction on a map and characterize the destructive force. The evidence collected points to tornadic activity not from gales.
