Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the dichotomy between the educational policies and the disregard with the environmental issues in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. In this context, the text presets the reform of the New High School in the state in a perspective of distancing itself from the Paulo Freire’s dialogic dimension. This dimension is here understood as the distancing relationship between teacher / student, and the relationship between people and their environment. It is also presented some data about the precarious situation of schools and the neglect with the state’s biomes, and how this demonstrates an incoherence with the offered curriculum to the youth in the new high school. Finally, there is a need to understand this dichotomy and these dynamics, so that, in society, real change in education can be made possible.
