Environmental Activists: Report of a Pedagogical Practice

Abstract

This paper aims to present a pedagogical practice carried out with students from the Brazilian New High School in the 1st and 2nd grades. The activity involved research, material making, and presenting the results to the class. Its object was activists, leaders, or people who inspire in different areas of knowledge. For this research, we went into names that have contributed and are contributing to environmental issues, some young and others with a pathway of activism, and some recognized locally, nationally, and worldwide. Their contributions are through demonstrations, mobilizations, representations, or practical actions. The methodology applied was a participatory workshop, which consisted of explaining the concepts and proposal of the activity, dialogizing about it, researching the life, work, and contributions of the activist of reference, and presenting the final work. The expected result is that the students will have the opportunity to get to know different references and activists, raising consciousness about habits and the importance of political participation.
