Abstract

This article presents the experience of the project “VAMOS – Virtual Exchange to Tackle Wicked Problems: Latin American and European Collaboration on Education for Sustainable Development, which had the participation of universities from Brazil, Honduras, Sweden and Italy, in the period 2021 and 2022. The project created a pilot ESD course in the VE model, aiming to develop the capacity for innovative international collaboration and joint learning, based on SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, focusing on socio-environmental problems and food security in Vila Torres, a low-income community in Curitiba, promoting connections between members of this community and around 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students from different courses in partner countries. Through a virtual discussion forum and using tools such as Miro, Padlet, Canva, Design Thinking and Backcasting, projects were obtained based on sustainable urbanism, food security, community-based sustainable tourism, proposals of spaces for sport, leisure and culture, based on a systemic and interdisciplinary vision and which presents prospects for improving the quality of life of the people of Vila Torres.
