The paper analyzes the Basque place names present in the municipalities and higher entities of Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador and Uruguay. The standardized spelling in Basque, the etymology, geographical origin and raison d'être of said place name in America are provided. Almost all of them are surnames, which were originally place names, which is why the characteristics of Basque surnames are indicated.
