CALL FOR PAPERS

The Revista de Literatura, História e Memória, ISSN 1983-1498, Qualis B1, linked to the Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE), published semiannually, has open calls for original and unpublished papers in order to integrate its next edition (v. 20, n. 36, 2024).

In each of its editions the journal is composed of two sections: a DOSSIER with a delimitated theme and a permanent SECTION, which receives submissions in a continuous flow, called “Pesquisa em Letras no contexto Latino-americano e Literatura, Ensino e Cultura”, which includes several papers derived from research and studies in the field of Literature.

DOSSIER: Joy and other emotions in literature

In the context of discussions about nomadic subjects, in becoming, Rosi Braidotti (2020) invites us to think about joy as an affirmative policy through which resistance to totalitarian hegemonies takes place. Understanding laughter and joy as deeply political emotions and statements, Braidotti and Pfeiffer (2004) express the desire for feminism to discover the joy of a movement that points to changes in the way we live, despite pain and mourning. In this scenario, it opens up to the so-called joyful ethics of insurrection or joyful disobedience (Braidotti, 2020). Ahmed (2019), based on the distinction between joy and happiness, observes that emotions are social and cultural practices rather than psychological states. In this sense, the researcher defends the right to be unhappy, as opposed to the imposition of happiness as an end to be achieved. For her, the killjoys, the unhappy ones, demonstrate the hope of the future we want. On both sides, feelings take center stage, in opposition to watertight rationality, seriousness, fixed forms, the hegemonic and excluding view of subjectivities, in what has come to be called the affective turn. This dossier invites researchers to discuss joy and other affections as underlying elements in artistic construction. We welcome texts that focus on different literary corpora, from theoretical perspectives that contribute to the discussion on the subject, considering nonconformist subjectivities.

ORGANIZERS: Dr. Lucía de Leone (UBA) and Dr. Maricélia Nunes dos Santos (Unioeste).
