Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze the organization of the narratives: Viva o povo brasileiro, by João Ubaldo Ribeiro, and Terra sonâmbula, by Mia Couto, highlighting the fictional representation processes the sense of nationality and of cultural traits of the characters, their heroism and their misadventures. We start from thematic motivations that mobilize the literary narrative project, the fictionally translate fragments of Brazilian culture and Mozambique because, metaphorically, the feeling of nationality of the Mozambican people and Brazilian permeates the narrative whose meaning effect noted is the loss in amalgamation with that revealed by the force of ancestry. Our perception is that, in the Mozambican space, there is an appeal to the culture of root and on the other there is an emphasis on the ethnic and cultural formation of the Brazilian people. The mode of historicizing the perception of collective action distinguishes the two works under study, so that the call for collective focuses on two main features. It has a socio-political and historical character, ironic way; another reveals ethnic character and socio-cultural, simulated mode, featuring the fragility of the human creature. In both narratives, people's notion that permeates the story, metaphorically. In Earth sleepwalking, however, the masking arrangement is to narrativizar consequences of the colonization process, the dominant theme focuses on a war that dispute projects for Mozambique. Are analysis support the narratives highlighted concepts found in Homi K. Bhabha, Franz Fanon, Stuart Hall and others, meantime, between place, people, nation and identity.
