Abstract


 The term "leprosy" has been employed by millenniums, in association with degrading situations. This negative aspect, culturally constructed, it has a fictional character that originates in non-scientific attempts of explain the unknown. The prejudice has been expanded as Christianity, when the disease has come to be understood as a consequence of punishment divine. For reveal the other side this stigmatizing vision arise books of nature autobiographical and documentaries that aim to convey individual experiences, to report the suffering caused by isolation policies and to reduce the prejudice related to the disease. In order to expand the understanding of human suffering and advance with process of deconstruction of prejudice related with the disease, we propose us to explore some memory places, of historical relevance.
