Abstract

This work aims to reflect on the trajectory of three women and their relationship with art and the resistance to silencing that historically haunts women's protagonism, suffocating longings and searches for a full and legitimate existence. Nadejda, wife of the Russian poet Ossip Mandelstam, followed her husband's exile to Stalinist Russia while memorizing his poems to ensure that Ossip's work would survive time and become known to future generations. Maria Vânia, singer and founder of the Minas Gerais group “Trem das Gerais”, that, along with her husband and two children, is dedicated to propagating authorial songs, in the public domain and by regional composers, whose art insists on keeping popular traditions of “Gerais” alive. Her female voice “Cantadeira”, as she calls herself, resonates from the Triângulo Mineiro region to the world. And as Minas are many, Maria Lira Marques closes this female trio with the strength and art that spring from the clay and the work songs of the women of Vale do Jequitinhonha.
