Abstract

In this article, our main objective is to analyze the song “Que tal um samba?”, by Chico Buarque, as an invitation to its listener to a perspective of life opposite to the one experienced in the historical moment in which it was composed, authoritarian and fascist. The song was composed in 2022, at the end of a dark historical moment, in which the brazilian population was devastated by a variation of crises: moral, political, health and is collectively suffocated, living in an absurd world, with values rooted in authoritarianism, prejudice and violence. To develop our analysis, we will also comment, as a subsidiary objective, on the songs “As caravanas” and “Cálice”, compositions that confirm Chico Buarque’s desire to reveal Brazil in his musical work.
