Abstract

Numerous approaches have been made by literary criticism about the historical novel. Among other critics, we appreciate the efforts in this regard made by authors like Fernando Aínsa; in his book Rewriting the past (2003) he has contributed with interesting reflections on the subject. In this paper we will try to find out about the links between history and literature. To do this, we will start from the idea that the two speeches will be establishing relations of identity, but also of difference and cross-linking; and that one of the most interesting experiences to understand the dialectic of those encounters will be precisely that of the historical novel.
