Abstract

Man’s memory and book’s memory are things being analyzed in this paper, in a perspective that literature is produced by memories: memories of a person, memories of peoples, of languages, of cultures and so on. It is memory that guides the process of writing and constructing a literature: everyone contributes from their locus, from their time and space to build up the books, magazines, maps, and any kind of written papers. This whole group of memory Jorge Luís Borges called Babel Library. So, in this analysis are relevant to the theme two of Borges’ short stories: Funes, o Memorioso and A Biblioteca de Babel and also some theories of different actors that can contribute to develop the ideas and help to show that our memory is kind of simple and limited in front of books’ memory, so that it is necessarily important letting books register all particular things to don’t overload our bread.
