Abstract

The increased demand for better quality products have affected significantly the form of crop production and marketing of vegetables. Advances in organic agriculture base have collaborated in discussion of more sustainable forms of production, in line with the environmental, economically viable and socially just. The present study had the objective to assess seven production systems vegetable crops in organic farming in western Paraná-Brazil. The properties are part of project reference IAPAR networks, where they search for the systemic approach through concrete examples and a partnership between research, extension and farmer. Social indicators, economic and environmental impacts have been collected through interviews with the families concerned and systematized. The data showed that families have good quality of life, high gross income, but they have limitations as far as manpower. In environmental indicators, there is pending with respect to environmental laws and restrictions regarding the maintenance of soil fertility.
