Abstract

This work aims to analyze the energetic production field in the hinterland of Brazil focusing on the construction of Urubupungá Hydroelectric Complex. That was planned and accomplished during the 50s through mid 70s in the borderline between Sao Paulo e Mato do Grosso do Sul states. This enterprise was consolidated through new experiences of regional planning by means of its construction, progress ideology and a new region of image even before the construction begins. In this way, private interests, battle over legitimacy and power, and therefore memories were managed through this period and marked the construction of two hydroelectric until its end during the 70s, and establishing connections to memory landmarks from the past and unfolding to the future.
