Abstract

Despite the growing presence of women in the labor market, the advancement of women into leadership positions in Brazil is still marked by deep inequalities, reinforced by gender stereotypes. Data from IBGE (2022) indicate the persistence of structural barriers, with the percentage of women in managerial positions remaining stagnant at around 35% to 39%. In this context, the objective of this research was to analyze how gender stereotypes influence the perception of women's leadership abilities in management roles. The study, conducted with 53 women leaders in Toledo-PR, confirmed the hypothesis: 60.4% of the participants feel the need to work harder than men in order to be recognized. This perception validates the “leadership labyrinth,” revealing that cultural barriers and the burden of the double workday persist. The investigation contributes to the field of administration and aligns with the UN’s SDG 5, encouraging the transformation of cultural norms so that women are recognized fairly.
