Abstract

This paper intends to analyse the training programs’ effect on the income and on the risk of unemployment in Porto Nacional-TO. It has studied especially the Programa Nacional de Acesso ao Ensino Técnico e Emprego (Pronatec), which was mainly completed by young adult. The research gathered primary data in December 2014 and it estimated Pronatec’s effect through propensity score matching and difference-in-differences. It was observed that average treatment effect on the people which did training was R$187,31 on the income monthly and it was -19,9 percentage points on the unemployment risk. Similar results have been seen in research over Brazil (Souza, 2009), Spain (Díaz & Iglesias, 2008), United Kingdom (Blundell et. al., 2004), Estonian (Lauringson et. al., 2011) and Germany (Muehler et. al., 2007). Thus, there is evidence that the program should continue in Porto Nacional-TO because it presented significant effects on the employability and income of young people.
