Abstract

This article aims to characterize and discuss the evolution and importance of the grain production and agribusiness in the warehousing segment, focusing in current and future perspectives. It was found that although the production and marketing of grains have great importance for the country, the storage industry does not keep pace of growth of grain production, there is an unequal distribution among the sites that produce more grain and among the places that most have physical space to store agricultural products, the benefits that storage provides cease to be enjoyed and less than 15% of warehouses are concentrated at the production sites. Additionally, this work provides subsidies to indicate directions of development to professionals working in the sector, aid in decision making, indicates prospects for the storage industry and highlights the need for further work.
