Abstract

This paper analyzes, using co-integration, the determinants of sugar and alcohol supply in Paraná State. It concludes that the agricultural income variable presented the biggest elasticity, being that 1% rise in the agricultural income variable, will increase 1.24% in the sugar supply. The low elasticity occurred for the average price of the international sugar by raising 1% in this variable it generates a growth in the sugar supply of 0.37%. In relation to the alcohol supply, an increase in its average price raises the supply in 0.77%; and the average price of the international sugar rises in 1%, it generates a drop in the alcohol supply of 0.42%.
