Abstract

Initiatives focusing on improving quality and product presentation have made Rio Grande do Sul stand out on handmade cachaça. This is because the creation, in 2005, the project called Alambiques Gaúchos, composed by 14 companies and with the aim of improving the perception of the market that Rio Grande do Sul offers good handmade cachaça. Besides the factors that have influence in its institutional and organizational environment because of its historical process, from 2010, the group faces other challenges, as the end of the project that used to keep it financially and internal conflicts that were the reason for some members give up. Thus, based on the Induction Scheme of the Forms of Governance included in the New Institutional Economics Theory (NIE), it aimed to understand the factors that influenced the transactions of the group, identifying its governance structure and what are its mechanisms for coordination. The Comparative Structural Analysis Discrete concluded that the governance structure that could be adopted by the group, would be hybrid, however, there is no coordination. It makes not possible a larger organization the members, prejudicing the development of their activities.
