Abstract

This paper aims at analyze the distribution of the per capita income of the municipalities of the State of the Paraná, from 1999 to 2006. It was applied exploratory analyze of spatial data and spatial econometric models. There are evidences of absolute and conditioned convergence of per capita income. However, the convergence rate is low. The results also showed that spatiality has proved extremely important factor for the Parana’s economy, suggesting that the economic performance of a particular locality, in general, is directly influenced by the performance of its neighbors. It is important noted that even municipalities sharing some common characteristics, idiosyncrasies and potential locals have played key role in the growth rates. The productive and humane capitals are important for economic growth of Paraná’s cities, but natural capital few influenced the growth, due to great part to climate and exchange problems.
